DISASTER RELIEF UPDATE
First I want to thank all the organizations, offices and individuals that have given their time, money and items to the Hurricane Michael relief effort.
Of the 12 counties within which AIA Tallahassee Chapter represents and acts for the Institute, 9 of them, including Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, Leon, Wakulla and Taylor were impacted by Hurricane Michael.
To date, AIA Tallahassee has collected hundreds of dollars in funds, non-perishable food, diapers, wipes, cleaning supplies, tarps, gas cans, etc. that have gone to the aid of those people impacted.
Because of the cold weather, we are now in the midst of a winter attire drive, including gently used coats, jackets, rain gear, blankets, hats, gloves, space heaters, etc. to keep people warm. As discussed in a letter to the members last week, those items can be dropped off to Hammond Design Group office, Hoy Stark Hagan office or bring them to the meeting tomorrow, November 20th. We will be delivering them to Mexico Beach by Wednesday, November 21st.
We are also having a fundraiser, discussed in the next article, to raise dollars to give to a local organization, not yet determined. Let’s keep up the donations, as they still have a long way to go before they are back to normal; and remember it could have been us and we would be looking to others for aid.

FROM THE DESK OF AIA FLORIDA
Support for those affected by Hurricane Michael continues as supplies and donations continue to be delivered to AIA Florida headquarters. These supplies, along with donations from AIA Tallahassee, AIA Gainesville and AIA Florida Northwest will be delivered to affected area in the upcoming weeks. And most recently, AIA New York State contributed $2,500, increasing the relief coffers to roughly $10,000. This and other donated funds will be used in the Florida Panhandle to purchase appropriate supplies as the needs change. Alabama-based architect Robert Bruner, AIA, delivered a truckload of supplies to AIA Florida headquarters in Tallahassee on Saturday, November 3. These donations were all provided through a supply drive at Bruner's firm, CCR Architecture & Interiors, in Birmingham, Alabama. AIA Florida extends a huge thank you to Rob and CCR Architecture & Interiors!
AIA Tallahassee will be helping to deliver these supplies to the affected counties.

GUBERNATORIAL APPOINTMENT TOOLKIT
In an effort to grow the influence of the architectural profession, AIA Florida has developed the Gubernatorial Appointment Program (GAP) to help place architects in positions of influence within our communities.
AIA Florida has identified more than 250 appointed positions for which architects could provide key insight and leadership. AIA Florida's mission is to position architects to lead the shaping of Florida's future. It is vital that the profession be represented to provide leadership and guidance in all aspects of business that affect the built environment.
The GAP toolkit provides each component with all pertinent information regarding each appointed position in addition to an example application and links to the Governor's appointment applications.
