August 2018

We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.
-Winston Churchill

Just as we can shape our buildings we can shape our profession, but only if we are involved with what keeps it professional. We are in the third quarter of 2018 and looking for nominations for next year’s Board members.  Please pay attention for the Call for Nominations letter you will be receiving via email.

Thursday, August 23, 2018 :: 5:30PM
The date for the next meeting is Thursday, August 23rd at Beef O’ Brady’s on Thomasville Road.  Please come and participate.

A committee will be formed to discuss, clarify parameters, plan occasions, and work out the details for this joint effort between FAMU SA+ET and AIA Tallahassee. More information will be provided soon regarding this endeavor. If you wish to be involved, please let us know.
We are happy to announce that the AIA | Habitat for Humanity T-shirt Design Competition was a success! Thank you to those who stepped up, participated, and submitted great designs. Also thank you to the judges, Eve Williams and Ivan Johnson for choosing a winning design that we can all be proud to wear during our Volunteer Builds. Ultimately, two designs were chosen and asked to collaborate into one cohesive design. The judges felt the two were graphically eye-catching while still conveying all the right information - “Letting our community know who we are and what we’re here to do.”
We hope you will join us in our excitement to participate in this Volunteer effort while sporting our Volunteer T-shirts.
If you’re interested in seeing the competition, here are all of the submitted design entries.
If you would like to order a t-shirt please submit your order by Friday August 24th to
AIA | Habitat t-shirts are available in a standard Gildan cotton long sleeve and short sleeve, sizes Small – 3X-Large. AIA Tallahassee will pre-order all t-shirts. Your payments may be made out to AIA Tallahassee upon receiving your t-shirt.
