2019 AIA Tallahassee Awards
Due to the great efforts of the Tallahassee Component, we were able to earn two awards this year!
Anthony "Tony" Pullara Chapter Award
Given in memory of Anthony L. Pullara, AIA, this award is intended to inspire all chapters to strive to exceed the Guidelines for Component Excellence as established by AIA and its members’ expectations, particularly in the areas of Public Awareness/Outreach, Political Effectiveness, and Membership Development. All AIA Florida Chapters are encouraged to submit information on programs that target their areas of public awareness/outreach, political effectiveness and membership development.
Component ECEL Program
Last year (2018) AIA Tallahassee submitted their component program and best practices to the National Component ECEL Program that we felt had achieved a level of excellence in our component and our community. In the application we shared our most exemplary component programs, initiative and best practice that made a significant impact on our membership, component and community. Some of those programs included were Ask An Architect, Safety Assessment Training, Collaborative programs with the City County Planning Department and Building Inspection, Hurricane Michael Relief Efforts, Art By Architects, Bau Wow Haus Competition and Exhibition and Dinner By Design to name a few. Our submission demonstrated component innovation in the development of new and existing programs that significantly added value to members and the public and achieved results that other components can emulate. These programs aligned with the Public Awareness Core Member Services: Advocacy, Continuing Education and Public Awareness.
Monetary compensations for EXCEL submissions were awarded based on component size based on the following:
• All-volunteer led components 4 awards at $1,500 each
• Components up to 500 members 4 awards at $3,000 each
• Components from 500-1000 members 3 awards at $5,000 each
• Components over 1,000 members 3 awards at $7,500 each
Our chapter was awarded one of the 4 All-volunteer led components awards given, along with $1,500.
